Oppal confirmed Canadian children captured in Texas
BC’s Attorney General Wally Oppal confirmed that some 416 children taken by the authorities of a polygamist compound in Texas, are Canadians.
Oppal said the official in Ottawa gave him the message.
His statement came after Angie Voss, Texas, Youth Protection, said at a hearing in the custody of Texas, Friday, that some children come from Canada, but there were no details on how much it was or, as they were old.
The large group of children were seized in connection to allegations of sexual and physical abuse were made, including minor girls forcing men to marry several times his age.
Oppal told the Canadian Press he had been warned that some Canadians took part. He said that government officials will testify, but it was not clear what belongs to them.
Oppal said officials gave the message, because it is also a polygamist compound in Bountiful, BC, and members have close ties with their American counterparts.
